One of the many strengths of Silkwood School is our vibrant and connected community. We foster the vital partnership between home, school and our wider community – students, staff and parents work together in a caring and inclusive environment.
Learning the value of belonging to a community and accepting that rights and responsibilities come with this is part of our learning program. Vital to this sense of community is our willingness to celebrate diversity, freedom of thought and expression for everyone who is a part of it.
We have many groups that work alongside the school team who play an active and vital role in the support and growth of the Silkwood Learning Community.
Our Community Mentor and Internship Program
We actively encourage our students to work with mentors and in internship programs to enhance their learning programs where ever possible. This support provides a vital and vibrant connection to expertise and inspiration outside of the classroom environment and is a valued part of our Silkwood Learning Community,
Silkwood Community Care Association (SCCA)
This has an established non-profit P&F group called the SCCA. The group has an executive committee who meet monthly. They welcome new members.
Class Carer and Parent Care
In the primary school each year level has an assigned parent carer to help and support the teacher and class community with communication, delegation of tasks and organisation of class and school events.
We rely on the generous participation of volunteers to assist us to deliver an outstanding learning adventure for all Silkwood students. Volunteering opportunities are advertised in our newsletter.
Our parents have helped pioneer and develop our visions and we continue to appreciate the generous participation of families to volunteer their time and assist us to deliver an outstanding learning adventure for all Silkwood students.
Community involvement ensures our continued growth and success and provides meaningful opportunities for parents to become involved in their child’s education.
We are proud of the way our entire school community embraces and supports the education and personal learning adventures of our students.
