Middle School Term in Review: So Much to Celebrate!

As Term 1 draws to a close, there is so much to celebrate across Middle School.
We warmly welcomed our Year 6 students into Middle School, and they are already making a wonderful contribution to our community. Year 7 students embraced their sailing adventures, while Year 8 students explored creativity and communication through podcasts and perspective drawing. Our STEM Ambassadors and STEM Extension students have continued to lead innovation and curiosity across the year.

Year 9 students have excelled through the Artivism project and a range of real-world adventures, proudly wearing their Year 9 jumpers that signify leadership and their final year in Middle School.

Across Years 6 to 9, our Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) meetings have supported students to reflect on their progress and set purposeful goals.

The term also included celebrations of World Happiness Day, building momentum into Harmony Week. On Wednesday, students will come together for a Middle School Town Hall to celebrate Harmony and recognise those who have led this work within their advisories as student changemakers. This is complemented by the much-anticipated Handball Competition, bringing energy, connection and fun to the week.
These celebrations culminate on Thursday with our Harmony Festival, an important learning day for all Middle School students.
On the sporting front, both our junior and senior teams triumphed at the Volleyball Independent Cup, an outstanding achievement. Students have also continued to shine through their PILT projects, with 2026 seeing refined and enhanced rigour across all Middle School learning.

We also welcomed visits from local native and reptile groups, marked the return of the Top Blokes Program, and celebrated Year 6 students representing Silkwood in Brisbane at Youth Parliament.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff, whose energy and commitment bring adventure, creativity and meaningful learning opportunities to life each day.
Here’s to a term full of growth, achievement and shared celebration, with more exciting opportunities ahead in Term 2.
